Atmosphere, taste and style take shape digitally. Find out how Rebel Agency transforms an iconic restaurant brand into a recognisable and consistent brand experience on every channel. Curious about our approach? Find out here!
Lucy Chang was the first to bring the fast casual dining concept to Belgium. What started as an innovative dining experience with 1920s Shanghai influences grew into an established restaurant in Antwerp, Brasschaat, Knokke and Ghent. Combining nostalgia, culinary sophistication and a distinct atmosphere, the restaurant has built a loyal customer base that loves the unique concept.
Still, the digital translation of that success behind. Despite the visual power of the interior and the rich culinary story, Lucy Chang's online presence remained fragmented. Multiple agencies had been involved, but each time it lacked consistency, strategic overview and cohesion. Peter Michaels, the founder, was looking for a partner who did more than execute. He wanted someone who would think with him, anticipate and, above all, oversee the whole.
What began as a collaboration around content management quickly grew into a full strategic process in which we streamlined and enhanced all digital and visual communications.
The first step was to revisit the brand strategy. What makes Lucy Chang unique? How do we ensure that that experience can also be felt digitally is? We set a clear strategic line in which atmosphere, taste and storytelling come together. That strategy was translated into a visual identity that rings true not only in the restaurant, but also on screen.
From there, we developed a consistent brand book and digital brandingcolour palette, typography, tone of voice, imagery, formats, icon set and branded applications. We continued along these lines in all communications: online, offline and in campaigns.
“A wolf is smart, sharp and loyal. It senses its surroundings perfectly and strikes at the right moment. At Rebel agency, we work the same way. When you belong to the wolf pack, you get a partner who is always by your side. Because once in the pack, always in the pack.”
The social media channels were given a complete makeover. Until then, mostly individual posts or personal updates from management were shared, with no clear plan or structure. Rebel Agency took over full management. We created a recognisable and attractive content style, tailored to the seasons, dishes, promotions and brand atmosphere.
We developed fixed formats for reels, lunch promotions, behind-the-scenes content, customer reviews, mood images and events. Each channel was given its function within the communication strategy: Instagram inspires and seduces, Facebook informs, and LinkedIn focuses on employer branding and business growth.
Also Google My Business was upgraded. Opening hours, menus, reservation links, professional photography and weekly updates ensure consistency and better findability. The review score increased from 3.6 to 4.0, thanks in part to active follow-up, response policy and encouraging feedback.
We built a community. Customers were invited to share their experience, comments were answered, user-generated content was picked up and personalised. Social media no longer became a channel, but a full-fledged extension of the customer experience.
For specific campaigns - such as lunch operation, holidays or new dishes - we set up performance ads through Meta. These campaigns were targeted at foodies, locals, and hospitality-minded audiences within specific radii. Thanks to targeted segmentation and creative visuals, we achieved visible results, such as a clear increase in afternoon clientele.
We have also taken an active role in recruitment. In a competitive hospitality market, finding and keeping talent is a challenge. That is why we put a clear employer branding strategy on. We created campaigns that attractively position Lucy Chang not only as a restaurant, but also as an employer.
Attractive visuals, honest testimonials and job posts with personality make Lucy Chang stand out in a tight job market. Visibility on job sites and social media was increased, and the internal culture translated into communication that really appeals to people.
We also organised influencer events in collaboration with, among others BBODY and Les Jumelles. Not just superficial collaborations, but targeted collaborations with impact and measurable conversion.
Lucy Chang had an interesting database, but did little with it. We developed a complete email marketing strategy: from templates and segmentation to automations. Instead of a standard newsletter, customers now receive stylish updates on new dishes, seasonal suggestions, events and specials. All tailored to Lucy Chang's style and aimed at engagement and retention.
Lucy chang wanted to stand out not only in the offline experience, but also digital future-proof become. We therefore developed a comprehensive AI strategy To make the brand visible on platforms such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Siri and other smart assistants. We made sure Lucy chang sends the right signals through optimised content, correct NAP data and a strong presence on all relevant digital touchpoints. The website received separate, locally optimised pages per branch, complemented by AI-friendly content structures. Google Business profiles were also refined, supplemented with up-to-date photos, keyword-rich updates and click-through links.
We also optimised external platforms - from Tripadvisor and Deliveroo to Yelp - so that everything is consistent in terms of content and visuals. We developed a review flow, activated branded hashtags, used Google Posts and ensured that all information can be traced back to one reliable source.
Digitalisation was also integrated into the internal operations: reservations, community follow-up and content updates are now largely done automated. Thanks to this smart approach, Lucy chang is ready for tomorrow's digital world.
“Not standing still, but moving forward. That sums up Lucy Chang perfectly. And that is exactly what Rebel Agency makes possible. They sense our mood, think with us ánd translate our experience seamlessly to every platform.”
